I'm curious if you're just seeing a slightly different part of this elephant than others have reported. In a small set of Google search results drilling down on this I see a number of VMWare Fusion users turning up.
Macos catalina install error code#
I stripped off the code block above to make this stand out more. My initial guess (because of the Error starting APFS Volume creation: Insufficient privileges: Insufficient privileges bit) was that your case might need the installer to use sudo when it creates the volume, but I hadn't scrolled off to the end of the long log line to see the diskutil error. (partial backstory in #4779 and #3156)ġ1>Aug 30 18:59:06 mac-mini-2-signing (.625): Failed to bootstrap path: path = /usr/sbin/diskutil, error = 2: No such file or directoryĮrror starting APFS Volume creation: Insufficient privileges (-69863) A fair number of people have confirmed the installer to be working on ~normal Mac hardware with ~normal nonvirtualized macOS installs, but we've also had a slow trickle of hard-to-debug issues with virtualized/cloud/CI setups. While on the same menu I also would advise you to select the option 'TCP/IP' and click on 'renew DHCP lease'. You can check that by going system preferences>network> wi-fi (or ethernet)> advanced> proxies > and untick SOCKS proxy. To clarify a little (mostly for later travellers), this issue is almost certainly narrower than this. It seems like you might have a network issue, try to confirm if SOCKS proxy turned on.

As a result of previous attempts to install Catalina, the InstallEDS.dmg was still inadvertantly open in Mojave, so Fusion couldn't create the install medium. That might well be the reason why I can't change the target operating system picker to "Windows 10 圆4".ĮDIT2: My bad. If I let Fusion try and boot such a "Windows" machine, it also fails.ĮDIT: It looks as if Fusion was unable to use the Catalina install application as the source for an install medium.
Macos catalina install error windows 10#
I never have the opportunity of choosing Windows 10 圆4, unless that's the first choice (instead of choosing Apple OS X/macOS 10.14, as per above).

If, instead of choosing "Finish", I select "Customize Settings", I am presented with the same dialogue to name the new virtual machine, after which I receive the message "Unable to create installation medium". If I say it's "macOS Catalina", it will save the blank virtual machine and, then, try to boot from it. One of them is to "Finish", which would offer me the opportunity of naming the new virtual machine. Then, other than cancelling or going back, I have two choices.

Then Fusion tells me it intends to create a virtual machine with macOS 10.14 as the operating system, with a new hard disk of 40 GB, 2 GB of memory, 2 cores, et cetera. Then, if I choose Apple OS X/macOS 10.14, other than cancelling or going back, I only have the choice to "Continue". Step 3: Choose ‘Disk Utility’ from the window and click ‘Continue’ to proceed. The utility window will be visible on the screen. Step 2: You need to hold those keys until the Apple logo is visible on the screen. Then, as far as I can see, other than cancelling or going back, I only have the choice to "Continue". Step 1: Turn on Mac, press and hold ‘Command + R’ keys immediately after hearing the startup music. I can certainly drag and drop the " Install macOS 10.15 Beta.app" to a new Fusion virtual machine.

Im trying to install either Mac OS Big Sur or Monterey right now, but previous. I read lots of guides online, watched some videos, but nothing solved the issue. I must be missing something (Fusion 11.1.0). Ive been trying to install Mac OS on my Windows machine via VirtualBox for quite some time now, but I always get stuck on the same problem: LOG:EXITBS:START.
